Butterflies!

This past Saturday Brayden and I went down to the Texas Discovery Gardens in Fair Park to the Butterfly Exhibit. I had briefly mentioned it to him earlier in the week and asked if he wanted to go and then he wouldn't quit asking. So off we went Saturday morning. It was super cool! All of you moms out there - if you have the chance to go, go! Brayden loved it. There are these beautiful butterflies and moths just flying around this indoor greenhouse - all shapes, all sizes, all colors, it was amazing. I recommend it! We enjoyed! Here are some pics from our fun outing:

A moth resting for a bit on a educational plaque.

Mr. Man in the exhibit.

It's hard to tell with a still photo - but they were flying around so you were looking all around.

He looks excited! So many things to see...

Another big moth resting on a tree.

Beautiful, lush flowers and plants all around.

Pretty black and red one..I call this one the Red Raider. :)

This moth was huge. I would not want to encounter this guy at night flying. The exhibit guide said this species of moth only moves at night so it would've just stayed there all day. I think if this one had moved it would have scared B. It was pretty creepy but also entrancing.

Hard to see but another moth was "camouflaged" in the plant. This is a word that Brayden has learned and keeps using. It cracks me up. Gotta love Sesame Street!

Another pretty butterfly found a good place to sit.

Checking out the water insects.

Real cocoons! A few butterflies had already come out. This was really cool.

We then went out to the gardens so he could run around for a bit.

He loved the water fountain, of course....

And the big sculptural ball.

I'm pooped! Fun times :)
On a final note: This was the first outing where we didn't take the stroller. I got him out of the car and was about to put him in it and he goes, "No mommy, no stroller. I want to walk." So I tried it. He stayed with me the whole time, never ran away (well, except in the gardens in the big lawns). He is getting too big. I am having a hard time with my pull-up-wearing-no-stroller-walking 2 1/2 year old boy! :(
